Private and confidential psychiatric assessment, counselling, and treatment services are provided in a comfortable and relaxed environment by qualified and experienced psychiatrist Dr Iqbal Mohiuddin. Dr Mohiuddin is assisted by his wife, Mrs Pamela Mohiuddin.
Private consultation is provided from their private consultation room in Round Green in East Luton. Private off-road parking is available with quick access to the local main roads: M1 (J10/10A), A6 (New Bedford Road), A505 (Hitchin Road/Stopsley Way/Vauxhall Way) and A1081 (New Airport Way, London Road, Luton Road). Luton and Luton Airport Parkway mainline railway stations are also nearby, as well as London Luton Airport.
A private mental health assessment takes up to sixty minutes to complete. Further sessions may be needed to gather further relevant information. Common conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, psychosis, or alcohol dependence can be quickly diagnosed, or indeed excluded. A person-centred treatment plan for recovery is jointly agreed upon. Subsequent treatment sessions for sixty minutes can be booked individually. Follow-up appointments for thirty minutes can be booked for further medical review and support. Positive and realistic goals for recovery are jointly agreed upon as early as possible. Preferred lifestyle choices, aspirations, values, and beliefs are always respected first. Patients gain a clearer understanding of themselves, their unique situations and the best way forward. Unhelpful addictions can also be treated, depending on the patient's degree of motivation and insight. Safe and effective medication can be recommended in more severe and complex problems based on the best clinical evidence available. Patients start to feel better after their initial assessment.
Dr Mohiuddin listens non-judgmentally to his patients, quickly empathising with their unique situations and problems. Patients learn to relax and talk freely about anything that may be troubling them. Past and recent experiences can be explored in a safe and secure environment to help patients discover how these experiences may be contributing to their current problems. Destructive and negative patterns of feelings, thoughts and behaviours are identified and gradually challenged so that they resolve over time. Patients are enabled to focus on positive aspects and changes in their lives, assisting recovery in a timely manner. Patients' physical, psychological and social needs, and their pre-existing resources and strengths—in essence, their Human Givens—are also identified.
Extensive clinical evidence recommends specialist medical treatment for more severe and complex mental health problems, including psychosis, bipolar disorder, and severe depression. Dr Mohiuddin is experienced in the safe prescribing of effective medications such as antidepressants, anxiolytics, hypnotics, mood stabilisers, antipsychotics and controlled drugs. Alcohol and heroin dependence can be treated with appropriate detox medication (medically assisted withdrawal). The combination of medication with effective talking treatment leads to a faster and long-standing recovery.
